Sharp Famicom Twin System

The Famicom Twin System (or is it the TwinFamicom?) by Sharp might be rather bulky, but it remains a lovely console that handily plays both Famicom cartridges and disks. Oh, and you can grab a decently priced Famicom Twin System over at eBay. Seller ships worldwide.

Astro Boy's Game Boy Light

The Game Boy Light is the best version of the original Game Boy ever created and one of the few handhelds that -criminally- never left Japan. It is, you see, a properly black and white GB that comes with a shinny back-lit screen. I mean, really, what could be better that that? (Hint: an Atari Lynx) What's even rarer than the average Game Boy Light though is easier to discover; it's a Limited Edition Astro Boy GameBoy Light, it is. The console comes in its original, complete box and seems to be in great condition. Seller ships to Europe, United States, Australia and Canada.

An (affordable) Amstrad GX4000

As the average GX4000 can be quite expensive, this fine Amstrad GX4000 at £39.99 sounds pretty affordable. It apparently works fine and comes complete with two (despicable as always) controllers, all necessary leads and the lovely Burning Rubber racing game. Seller ships only within the UK.

A SupraDrive Hard Disk for the ST

A 52MB hard disk must have sounded impressive enough to earn the full Hard Disk System characterization, though truth be said the SupraDrive HD is still both handy and quite collectible. Also, it looks nice and makes you ponder stuff. Anyway. You can find one, complete in its box with drivers and the manual, via this SupraDrive (Atari ST) eBay auction. Seller ships worldwide.

Z by the Bitmap Brothers

Z was released by the Bitmap Brothers in the not so distant 1996 and, despite being an exceptional game, remains unique to this day. Its simple and rather frantic RTS mechanics haven't really been copied and its most strategic humour has yet to be bested. Oh, and to grab a lovely copy of Z (for the PC) in its jewel case, you could do much worse than visit Magisterrex.

Virtual Bowling (Virtual Boy)

Time for another obscenely priced rare game it seems! This time though it's not a NES offering, but the ridiculously rare Virtual Bowling for Nintendo's failed Virtual Boy. The game, a bowling sim, was one of the last two games released for the console (1995), while also being a Japanese exclusive and a pretty great game. It is widely considered to be the Holy Grail of VB games, especially when coming complete in it box as is the case. Seller ships worldwide.

Bubble Bobble Part 2 (NES)

Bubble Bobble Part 2 for the NES is a great yet incredibly hard to find (especially when complete in its box) game. What's even more exceptional is a boxed copy of the thing that has never been opened. If you're prepared to spend a lot of money, well, here is the link to a Bubble Bobble Part 2 auction that will let you own such a rarity. Seller ships only within the US, but is apparently willing to discuss Canada and -why not, I suppose- more countries.

Dune II (Amiga)

The original Dune game by Cryo was an excellent adventure-strategy game hybrid, that despite its many innovations and overall quality failed to become a smash hit. Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis by Westwood on the other hand really set the gaming world ablaze and established the way RTS games were to be played. Happily, you can own a boxed piece of RTS history via this Dune 2 (Amiga) auction. The game comes complete with its manual and the seller ships to N. and S. America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Tandy TV Games Plus Pistol / Rifle

Just love running into properly obscure consoles and more or less unknown Pong clones like the one you see above, and was manufactured by Tandy sometime during the mid to late seventies. I'm not even sure about the thing's name, but it seems it was part of the Tandy Scoreboard series and was probably called something along the lines of Tandy TV Games Plus Pistol / Rifle. What matters though is that you can find out more about this lovably retro console by grabbing one via this Tandy TV Games eBay auction. Seller ships worldwide and is including the console, its complete box and the pretty outrageous lightgun.

Not Even Human - Inhumane Edition (C64)

Seems like a fine day for homebrew cartridges, doesn't it? Well, I strongly believe it does, and that's why following the post on Stonix for the Intellivision, I'm glad to let Commodore 64 users know that the excellent RGCD retro gaming site is selling the brilliant sounding Not Even Human - Inhumane Edition. It apparently is a brand new 2-player strategy offering that comes on a C64 cartridge complete with handmade packaging and a small manual. The game is compatible with each and every C64 ever produced.

Here's the trailer (a promotional video really) to get you all excited about the thing's gameplay, graphics and amazing soundtrack:

Intellivision Stonix Complete & NIB

Stonix an indie and relatively recent (2004) release for the Intellivision, besides coming in pretty lovely box and being a truly good Breakout clone, has eventually turned into a collectible rarity. Complete boxed copies are neither cheap nor easy to find, as is the case with most quality homebrew games for retro consoles, and this is why you should have a look at this Intellivision Stonix eBay auction. It comes complete in its original box and the seller ships to N. and S. America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Full Throttle (PC)

Tim Schafer's Full Throttle might be a bit on the short & easy side of point-and-click adventuring, but it remains a unique, beautiful and immensely enjoyable adventure game that hasn't aged a day. Happily, what with it being quite a successful game, it's not ridiculously expensive to grab and can easily be played on modern PCs with a little help from ScummVM. You can grab a complete boxed copy of Full Throttle (Limited Edition) via eBay. Seller ships worldwide.

Neo Geo Pocket - Samurai Spirits

Always thought the Neo Geo Pocket was an elegant and powerful handheld worth owning. Especially when coming in a special box-set that includes the Samurai Spirits cartridge, just like the console discovered in this Neo Geo Pocket auction. Seller ships worldwide.

85 new copies of Jet Set Willy

I presume that people thinking about opening some sort of retro gaming shop would be more than interested in this amazing Jet Set Willy auction. They will apparently be getting 85 brand new, unopened, properly boxed, undamaged tapes of the excellent and very surreal Jet Set Willy platformer for the Amstrad CPC. Seller is willing to ship worldwide.

A CMD FD-2000 drive for Commodore 64

It's quite the rarity and a pretty expensive disk-drive too, but if you only want the best for your Commodore 64 you will at least consider this CMD FD-2000 Drive auction. It's a 3.5" drive that can emulate Commodore's drives, while allowing users to store up to 3.2MB (!) of data onto a single disk. Seller ships worldwide.

The Neverhood Soundtrack (Sealed)

The original 39 track soundtrack recording that followed the release of the excellent 1996 DreamWorks adventure The Neverhood can now be yours. Oh, yes. You can grab this sealed CD of the Neverhood Soundtrack and remember that the best claymation graphics are always accompanied by some excellent music. The seller ships only within the US.

The Legend of Zelda (Collector's Edition)

I am aware of the fact that Nintendo's Gamecube is neither the oldest nor the most successful console around, but it also happens to be a two generations old machine. How time flies, eh? Anyway. One of the more interesting offerings on the GC -and one that's bound to eventually become a true collector's item- is the excellent The Legend of Zelda - Collector's Edition Nintendo published in 2003 and never sold the traditional way.

The disc includes perfectly emulated versions of The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and graphically updated versions of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It also features a demo of the Wind Waker and a couple of retrospective video clips. Oh, and you can grab a complete, boxed (with manual) NTSC version of the thing via this lovely The Legend of Zelda (Collectro's Edition) auction. Seller ships worldwide.

Boxed Atari Lynx

The original Atari Lynx, this lovable beast of a handheld console, can now be your via this lovely Atari Lynx eBay auction. The powerful and pretty hefty console seems to be in great condition and comes in its original box. Seller ships worldwide.

Ikaruga (Dreamcast)

Ikaruga for the SEGA Dreamcast is a rare game, but I'm pretty sure this was not a result of its lack of success. Far from it really. I'm absolutely certain that things are simpler than that, and Ikaruga's rarity has something to do with the game's brilliance. People do not after all tend to sell off their dearest games, do they? And Ikaruga's brilliant shmup mechanics, jaw-dropping graphics, excellent soundtrack and two player options make it one of the best shoot-'em-ups ever released, meaning that only a handful of gamers are willing to let their copies go. As for the multitudes that would like to actually grab Ikaruga, well Play Asia does have the -always expensive- Japanese Dreamcast version of Ikaruga in stock.

The Secret of Monkey Island (ST)

Who said Atari ST owners didn't have access to some of the best 16-bit adventures released? Nobody apparently, and that actually makes sense. Anyway. What I simply wanted to do is point you retro loving point-and-clickers to this boxed copy of Ron Gilbert's The Secret of Monkey Island for the Atari ST. This excellent -nay, definitive and absolutely classic- adventure game can be shipped to Europe, United States, Australia and Canada.

Magic Voice (C64) & Carts

The Magic Voice Speech Module was a decent attempt at adding hardware speech capabilities to the already brilliantly sounding Commodore 64, which sadly failed and was only supported by a handful of games. Still, it does make for an interesting curio and is definitely worth collecting, provided you are so inclined. Knowing that you actually, err, are, this C64 Magic Voice auction then should come in handy, as you will not only be getting a boxed Magic Voice, but also three cartridges. Seller ships only within the UK.

A SEGA CD Dream

I've never owned a Sega CD despite being fascinated by the thing ever since I was an Amiga gamer. Then again, you really shouldn't care about such things. What should instead interest you is this pretty amazing SEGA CD Collection currently being auctioned off at eBay. Seller ships only within the US. You'll be getting a mint, original  fully boxed Sega CD, an equally impressive Sega CD Back-up RAM cart, the rare Datel Pro CD-X cartridge and over 30 (!) complete, boxed, excellently preserved games. The games include Sonic CD, Snatcher, Heart of the Alien, Rise of the Dragon, Road Avenger, Flink and Batman Returns.

Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128

The Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128, the vastly upgraded Speccy with the lovely heatsink on the side, is by far the most beautiful 8-bit micro you could wish for. It's also relatively rare (as it was swiftly substituted by Amstrad's Spectrum +2), but if you're willing to go for an untested machine you could grab one for cheap. Take this ZX Spectrum 128 auction for example. The computer lacks power supply and RF cable and is thus untested, but remains in excellent cosmetic condition. Chances are the thing will work. Seller ships worldwide.

100 NES Games for Gamblers

If you feel like gambling with your retro gaming money, well, those 100 NES Games from eBay should be of interest. You wont know which you'll be getting and haven't been tested but this sounds too lovely to simply ignore. Seller ships only within the US.

Cruise for a Corpse (Amiga)

Cruise for a Corpse is a largely forgotten, yet rather excellent and definitely unique, adventure by Delphine that was released back in 1991 to glowing reviews. The game is a beautiful point-and-click murder mystery with glorious animation and can usually be grabbed for relatively cheap. This boxed Cruise for a Corpse (Amiga) auction might be a good place to start. Seller ships to Canada, Europe, United States and Australia.

Amstrad CPC 464 Plus

At £80 this particular Amstrad CPC 464 + that appeared on eBay might seem a bit over-priced. Then again, I don't remember when the last time I saw a 464 Plus was and I do believe it to be quite a rarity. The seller after all is selling the micro complete with colour monitor, joypad, the Burning Rubber/Locomotive Basic cartridge, over 67 games on tape, some -uhm- backup tapes, manuals, books and even some Amstrad Action issues. Seller is willing to ship to Europe but would apparently prefer UK addresses.

Phantasm - Sega Saturn

Phantasm, a release exclusively for the Japanese Sega Saturn, is none other than the consolized version of Roberta Williams' tacky and very gory horror adventure Phantasmagoria. The game is playable only in Japanese, spans 8 CDs (one more than the PC version), sports quite a few enhancements and remains as terrible and oddly enjoyable an adventure as you remember it. It might be relatively obscure, but it most definitely isn't a truly rare Saturn game. And yes, it does still come in a pretty huge box. You can grab Phantasm (Saturn) via eBay. Seller ships worldwide.
