Super Mario Bros. (Famicom)

We all know that the Nintendo Famicom was better than the NES in every conceivable way and that it even bordered on being stylish. Are we though sure that Super Mario Bros. on the Famicom is better than its western counterpart? Hmmm... You could find out by grabbing this well-priced (it's on sale apparently) Super Mario Bros. cartridge from Play Asia you know.

  1. Whatever happened to that Mario guy? You never hear of him these days.

  2. Funny you mention that. Just a few nights ago one of my roommates had a friend from Japan over. He was pretty interested in my collection, and started checking everything out. He asked if I have a "Family Computer", which I don't, so I picked up a NES that was sitting around handed it to him. You should have seen his face! Apparently he had never seen one, and was shocked at how boring it looked.

  3. @ Bob: Odd how he disappeared, innit? I do believe I saw him in a cart game though...

@ Ionmyke: Now, that is a lovely story indeed. And one that helps illustrate the huge aesthetic gap between the NES and the Famicom.
