  2. Yep, excellent selection of games. Even Nine Princes in Amber - you guys ever play any of those Telarium adventure games? I remember I had a copy (literally) of Hacker and never got anywhere with it.

  3. Sadly never tried them, though I have heard quite a few interesting things. It's never too late mind!

  4. Good selection. I loved the Hitch-Hiker's Guide, and the Hobbit was a must-have on the Speccy. Pah! Who needs fancy graphics. Text adventures, I say! Take THAT, Dragon Age.

Hmm, actually, I wonder if there's a correlation between the decline of the text adventure and the decline in reading books for pleasure in teenagers? Perhaps someone should convince JK Rowling to do a Harry Potter text adventure?

  5. That is an interesting notion, though I wouldn't be so absolutely positive regarding the decline of book reading among young people. Not compared to the 80s at least, though your argument makes a lot of sense.

Believe or not, I'm getting the feeling that even commercial interactive fiction is making sort of a (modest) comeback, though surely lush boxes such as Infocom's will never be released again.

Oh, and having failed -let alone watch- to read Harry Potter, I frankly wouldn't know. Clive Barker would make a smash hit though!

  6. Well, I've never read Harry Potter either, but what I have seen of the films, I couldn't stand. However, I hear he's quite popular with the kids.

  7. So glad we stand together on such matters of delicate taste... :) Mind you, I'm sure kids can like quality stuff too. Or at least so I hope.
